As I am writing this article, I am watching the game 1 of NBA finals between the LA Lakers and Boston Celtics. By just the end of the first quarter, the Lakers led in a few points. I am a Lakers fan ever since and hopefully they will win this first game. I know Boston Celtics is not an easy team. Lakers lost to Boston in finals in 2008 and this is their chance to regain the championship trophy.
I observed that coach Phil Jackson uses young and faster …

It is not new anymore to hear or read some reports about boxers who did not have a better life at the end of their career. Some are suffering from disability or even die in the ring. Like what happened to Z Gorres for example. He is now recovering after a life threatening operation due to suffering a subdural hematoma. Gorres collapsed in the ring at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada November 13, 2009 although he won his bantam weight bout against Luis Melendez but he will never …

I am a frustrated car race driver. It is my dream before also to be a car race driver. I remember when I was still a kid, my grandfather bought me a mini car where I could drive. I remember that I wanted to wear a helmet although that helmet was not for racing. I was just imagining that I am wearing a car race helmet.
That’s why maybe I was able to pass on my hobby to my son. My son loves car. As I wrote before, he …

I remember during the time of Mickee Cojuangco, our Equestrian in the country are always put in the limelight during Asean Games and other Asean sports competition. Because aside from our boxers and sprint there were also Filipinos gathering their medals.
I wonder why this sports is not much talked about anymore? Maybe we don’t have enough athletes playing this sport, It is because only rich family can afford this kind of sport. As we all know, horse maintenance is so expensive, as well as equestrian gears and apparel like …

Luckily that Filipino boxer ZC Oliveros “The Dream” Gorres is now stable after having been in critical condition since he has undergone emergency surgery due to a blood clot on the left side of his brain. After winning his fight against Colombian Luis Melendez at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on Saturday, it was said that the boxer’s surgeon, Dr. Michael Seiff, had to remove a part of his skull to relieve the swelling of his brain.

Filipinos really don’t want to lose to any competition may it in politics or in sports. We used to hear that if a politician has lost in his or her bid for public works, he or she would claim to be scammed or cheated. I thought it was only in a politics until some sports official released a statement after the Philippines ended up in number six slot in the last South East Asean Games (SEA games) in Thailand. Some thought that if not for the bad decisions from some …

From:On Men and Sports III – What’s It All About?
According to an observer of men’s behavior especially in sports Mark Wong: author of “Football 1, Women 0”:
“Men are spending hours on end trailing the progression of their favorite teams to the quarter finals, not only viewing the actual game but also match highlights, half-time reports, repeat telecasts and exclusive sports news coverage from the host country… women all over the world are naturally feeling slightly left out.”
While women can only be glad that the Boxing & World …

On Men and Sports II- Oh Men, They’re really into Sports
According to behavior researcher Micheal Gurian, who is also the author of book “The Wonder of Boys,” how sports are more rampant among men could be more of a biological reason than anything else. “Sports are physical– testosterone driven. They involve physical aggression. The way men are trained for is mostly for competition. It should be noted that the working of male’s brain system is more spatial in nature. Most of these …

They would make bets, cancel their appointments, refuse to talk with anybody, become deaf to phone calls and texts, would curse the television screen unless their favorite players show their precision and anticipated best shots. I’m talking about men who are so glued on the googlebox, we ended up answering the telephone and make sure they don’t drink too much. In the morning of a boxing match, we, women are quite content knowing that Paquiao won but our male …

“Excuse me, but I think I’m certainly sexier than that those boxing gloves!!!” Nope, I’m not saying a line of a woman trying to woo back her straying man from the lure of another woman, but a line we women have to proclaim when our men are being robbed by the charms of a boxing match, tennis game, golf championship or pool match.
What is it really between men & sports? How come nothing, and I mean nothing can virtually come between men and a championship game? …
