It is almost a summer time here in the Philippines. This is the time for outings, vacations, swimming and travel. Usually this is the time when the present beach resorts and swimming pools become the most visited place and the time when the present resorts and swimming pool fees also increase. I hope the resorts and pool owners  as well as the government agencies responsible for the regulation of resorts must also be aware of their individual responsibilities to the public also.

For the government agencies involved, as early as after the issuance of business permits and license in January, a surprise visit and inspections already took place. If the resort, swimming pool owners and all the establishments are aware of their responsibilities, obligations and guidelines to the public, they should be followed.

For me if any accident happens in any of the establishments, it puts the life or hurt the consuming public in danger. It is not only the responsibility of the establishment owner but also all the government departments involved. Those who signed the permits are also liable. That’s a mere responsibility of the government to help protect the safety and well being of its people. I know mostly of us don’t know about our rights.

Every January, all of the establishment owners are renewing their business license. Payment includes taxes and all other government fees such as health, fire, engineering fee among others are included. These payments are made to the this government agencies to inspect all the establishment are following all the guidelines to operate certain business. City Health office ensures that all the personnel have health certificate, proper health safety are taken cared by the establishment, emergency kits and personnel and proper chlorination of poll water is tested and properly and rightfully maintained are present among others. Bureau of Fire conducts fire safety inspections while the engineering if all safety standard of the establishment are properly followed such as pool supplies presents, water filtering system and all safety design and standards are all followed. These are just some of more responsibilities of those government agencies concerned. This is not only their job but their responsibility as well.
