They would make bets, cancel their appointments, refuse to talk with anybody, become deaf to phone calls and texts, would curse the television screen unless their favorite players show their precision and anticipated best shots. I’m talking about men who are so glued on the googlebox, we ended up answering the telephone and make sure they don’t drink too much. In the morning of a boxing match, we, women are quite content knowing that Paquiao won but our male counterparts would discuss each round in great detail that you’d be awed by their memory recall.
Actively or vicariously, sports seem to take away all the men who, for the time being became slaves to the playground in the television screen. There are some battles worth fighting for but it seems to me that sometimes, women are having a hard time winning over three: men’s love for their jobs, their cars and yes, their love for sports. Show me a man who is not loco over a sport or two and I’ll show you a rare breed.
