I know there are a few bloggers out there who do not believe in PageRank anymore. I’m not quite sure as to why. Maybe it’s a defense mechanism because their blogs don’t have a PR or they have been slapped by Google where their present PR dropped or was back to zero. Or maybe they just don’t care because anyway they don’t monetize their blogs. Perhaps to them, they believe that as long as they are writing good articles and still receive visitors, PR could not be that important.
“PageRank wikipedia defined: is a link analysis algorithm that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of “measuring” its relative importance within the set.And it is believed that A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.”
But is there any really an analysis or algorithm or rules released by Google on how they really rank a certain blog? Hope somebody can show me. Is it just merely speculations on our side on what really Google used?
I started blogging last January 2008 and for six months now, I still consider my self a newbie and still learning. When I started blogging, all that was in my mind was to express myself and to earn money. But I see lately that in order to earn much more you have to have a PageRank on your blog.
Until now I am still confused on how to really have a PR. Many said you have your blogs linked to those blogs with higher PR and you don’t monetize your blog. But as far as I could remember, I have a blog that, in just three months time it already got a PR 3. This is the suplado.wordpress.com. This is despite the fact thatI don’t have link to other high rank pages. I only have a few links from my other blogs also and few from others don’t have PR yet. My blog is not a member of any blog community aside from Blog catalog only. I also monetize my blog to Smorty(with even casino task), Bloggerwave, and Buy Blog Reviews. That’s why my blog was closed down because I monetized it. Luckily I redirected it before it totally closed down.
But I remember that was my fastest growing blog, even ranked by WordPress number 32 in the world after a month of blogging. And search engine hit of almost thousand a day, it even got as high as three thousand hits in one day that time. It used to have a daily average visit of almost a thousand a day. Just too bad that WordPress closed it down.
That’s why it made me confused about what or how does Google ranks our site. Is it really on the importance of linking and monetizing or merely writing good article that usually makes people search for it over the net? I am still confused.

Yes… I don’t get it either. I have a ‘test site domain’ which I only use for web design testing purposes (i.e. testing new code, plugins, layouts). It has EXACTLY 1 fake post, 1 fake comment, and 1 link (linking to my real blog site which is a completely different domain name from this ‘test site’) since the beginning. Hence, it has pretty much NOTHING in it. A couple of days ago, I noticed it went from PR2 to PR3.
Why it has a PR at all… boggles me. Technically, it has only 1 backlink. WEIRD.
i’m confused too. i don’t think anybody else know how they determine the page ranks except them. i’ve read a lot of posts about this and most of them are confused too.
