The Philippines was shocked again by the rumored 8.1 magnitude earthquake that will hit on July 18, 2008 coming from another hoax prediction of Juseleeno Nobulega Daroose . The country is still struggling from the last tragic event brought about by typhoon “Frank” two weeks ago where thousands of lives have been lost and millions of pesos incurred in damages. There are still hundreds of missing passengers and still have not been recovered from the vessel of Sulpicio Lines “Princess of the Stars” that sank. This was reportedly the largest passenger ferry vessel in the Philippines.

We know that there are still people who will believe those hoax chain email predictions over the net and SMS messages, even though Philvocs Philippine Institute of Volcanology & Seismology keeps on addressing to the media that there is no or any technology yet nowadays that can predict earthquake.

I thought people are just only searching over the net about the latest showbiz sex scandals via photos and videos, or the latest cellphone scandals involving students in certain universities and colleges in the country including the alleged latest sex rape videos that are circulating today involving PUP students. This is because if you look at your visitor statistics the said topics are still the number one in search engines.

Instead of searching how to help the country given the rice and oil crisis affecting the country’s latest inflation rate, still some people choose to give in to shallow matters and nonsense topics.
